unknots
Questions people ask

Straight answers.

Including the ones that are awkward for us.

Money

Is this really free to start?

Yes. The questions, and the reading you get at the end of them, cost nothing and need no name and no card. You pay only if you choose a package, and the price is on screen before you pay it.

What do the packages cost?

From ₹4,999 if you and your partner already agree and just need the paperwork done properly, up to ₹89,999 if you want the whole thing run for you. All four include the same five things; what changes is how much a real person does with you.

Are there hidden costs?

No. The package price does not move later. Court filing fees are separate because they belong to the court, not to us, and we show you what they are before you file. Lawyer time beyond your included sessions is billed by the lawyer directly at rates you see first, and we take no share of it.

Can I move up a package later?

Yes, and you pay only the difference.

The law and the court

Do I still have to go to court?

Yes, briefly, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something. On the calm route it is usually one or two short appearances, sometimes on video. Everything before that we can do with you.

How long does it take?

If you both agree, usually a few months rather than years. There is a waiting period between the two court appearances that a court can often waive if you have genuinely settled and lived apart long enough. If it is contested, it can run for years, which is exactly why we try so hard to avoid that.

Do you replace a lawyer?

No. We do everything up to the point where a lawyer is genuinely needed, and then we bring you a real one who is enrolment-checked. You can also just talk to a lawyer at any point without buying anything.

Is unknots a law firm?

No. We give legal information, not legal advice. A licensed advocate confirms the right path for your exact facts, and a court decides the outcome.

Your partner

What if my partner will not agree?

Most refusals are hurt or fear rather than a final answer. We invite them somewhere neutral, hear each of you privately, and look for terms you can both live with. If that genuinely fails, a lawyer takes it forward.

Will they see what I write?

No. Your answers and your private positions are never shown to them. Only the places where you already agree are ever revealed, and only once you have both set a position.

I was sent a link. Am I being sued?

No. An invitation from unknots is not a legal notice and nothing has been filed against you. Your partner chose a calmer way to talk before anything legal happens. Joining is your choice, and you get your own private space.

Privacy and safety

Do you need my name?

Not to find out where you stand. You can answer every question and get your reading without giving a name at all.

Where is my data kept?

In India, encrypted. You can download everything we hold on you, and you can delete your account and your case whenever you want.

What if I am not safe?

Tell us in your own words at the start and the whole process changes: we stop the settlement questions and point you at support instead. That never sits behind a payment. If you are in danger right now, call 112.

Still wondering something?

Ask a real person. Half an hour, and you can bring anything.
